Defect triage
Also called: bug triage, triage meeting
Defect triage is the regular decision about each new defect: is it real, who owns it, how soon, and is more evidence needed.
Triage turns a pile of new defects into decisions. For each one it settles whether it is real, who owns the next action, what priority it has and whether it needs more information before anyone can act.
It wastes time when ten people re-read tickets aloud. It works when the tester arrives prepared: duplicates already merged, reproduction confirmed on the agreed build, severity argued from the journey affected. Product joins for the priority calls, which are the part only they can make.
A good triage leaves the board smaller than it found it. Invalid tickets are closed with a reason, and old ones get a date or are closed.
